Be your best
The nervous system is the Master Controller of the human body. It is often compared to a supercomputer because it processes millions of data points every second to ensure your internal environment remains stable, regardless of what is happening outside. Without a high-functioning nervous system, your body cannot coordinate the complex dance of chemistry and mechanics required for life.
The nervous system comprises the brain, which contain thousands of “departments” (nuclei), each for specific functions, and millions of “wires” (nerves), connecting these departments, within the brain and with the rest of the body.
Nerves passing information (data) towards the brain from receptors in the body are termed afferent nerves, whilst those transmitting information away from the brain to targets in the body are called efferent nerves. Those which transmit information between departments are called interneurons.
The spine not only protects and guides the nervous system through the body, it contains millions of receptors – particularly within the spinal joints between the vertebrae and the multitude of tiny muscles connecting the vertebrae – that provide biofeedback information into system.
By the use of specific chiropractic adjustments, chiropractors use this biofeedback pathway into the nervous system to not only reduce pain but to enhance the functioning of the system.
